My first ultra happened fast. I had signed up for the Heysen 35km. At my run club, I was running with an experienced runner who knew me well and she asked why I hadn't signed up for the 57km. I said I would love to one day. She spent the next 7km convincing me that I could do it. This was with one week to go before the event! The race director would allow a swap without a fee, and the weather forecast was perfect, so I had no real excuse other than fear. So I swapped! It was amazing. From 50km I did get incredibly hard, but I was almost there at that point and the views were incredible. Completing that ultra is still one of the achievement of which I am most proud.
Here is my video recap of my first marathon.
I hope you enjoy,
Beck
